Remove the soiled or damaged tile and then take a carpet tile from an area that has experienced less traffic, but is located in another part of the room.
Replace the first carpet tile with the cleaner tile. Make sure to place this fresh tile with the arrows facing in the same direction as the surrounding tiles. In a quarter-turn pattern installation, alternate the arrows as originally installed to maintain the same uniform alternate effect.
Clean the soiled tile in your kitchen sink with mild detergent or use one of the extra tiles you purchased with your original order to fill the space where you removed the fresh tile. You can also routinely shuffle your tile around to prevent the appearance of any real heavy foot traffic.

This simple and easy procedure will allow for even distribution of wear and will create a more uniform appearance throughout the space. Having extra tiles can also allow replacement in the same manner while the used tile is being cleaned.
